This week we are going to throw it all the way back to 1959, to the story that is "us". Louis Parsons had just opened Parsons Nursery as a small growing operation, garden center, and landscaping company. With his beloved wife Sylvia at his side they worked tirelessly to transform a dream into the reality that is Parsons Nursery, Inc as we know it today. Many people knew Mr. Parsons between his customers, the many local people he helped employ, or his dedication and involvment with several local groups and clubs. Later in the 1980's he transitioned his company away from retail and landscape services to focus solely on container production and building the reputation of good quality products for wholesale buyers. In 1994 he was awarded the SCNLA award which was then named after him and was called the "Louis P. Parsons Outstanding Contribution to the Horticultural Industry Award". President Bob Smart states in a Georgetown Times news article from February 11th 2005 "the award has been named after Parsons because of his devotion to the industry. Louis has given his time, money, talents and experiences back to the ornamental horticultural industry not only in South Carolina but the entire industry." During his career Louis Parsons proved to be an entrepreneur, successfully growing his business from the ground up. Louis and Sylvia trusted all of their hard work to be left in the hands of their only son, Payton Parsons and today he is doing his part in continuing his Father's legacy while remaining the driving force behind one dream, turned reality that is still proud to serve you all today.

We are gearing up for the Fall season on the Nursery and that means lots of maintenance and prep work to get our ever growing plants and trees in tip top shape for your purchase needs. 🌳

For those of you who do not know, Mrs. Sylvia Parsons, one of Parsons Nursery’s founders and operators passed away on Saturday, July 5th. We are all saddened by the great loss of this amazing woman. Please take a moment to read about a life well lived, and feel free to share any memories or condolences. We will be closing the Nursery on Thursday, July 10th at noon so that all nursery employees may have the opportunity to pay their respects and say their goodbyes to Mrs. Sylvia. Any customers or colleagues that would like to attend the services are welcome to do so, all details are below in her obituary. Thank you.
