Porch Roof – Assessment

Here's a look at a porch roof job here in the Georgetown area...documenting the condition before repairs.

What the photos show:
- Shingles are worn and losing granules, curling in spots
- Decking underneath has significant water staining and rot (visible from underneath in several spots)
- Flashing where the porch roof ties into the house wall has gaps, letting moisture in
- 3 gable vents that will need to be trimmed out during the rebuild

What we planned to do:
- Full tear-off of shingles and decking
- New decking throughout
- New drip edge with wood trim
- New flashing at the house wall tie-in
- Trim around the vents
- Bidding both shingle and standing seam metal for the new roof

Loved how this project came together! We added curved limestone borders around the front beds and side gate area, then filled them in with river rock and fresh mulch.
The stone edging really ties everything together, and the beds under the big oaks look so much cleaner now.

Water finding its way in where it shouldn't? 🐾💧 We installed new flashing to protect a doggie door and redirect water away Small detail, big improvement.

Cut, framed, and finished a custom dog for install. Had to relocate an electrical box and run new wires around the opening before framing and drywall repair could happen. A good reminder that even “simple” installs can turn into a bigger job once you open the wall!
