Many people subscribe to treatment programs for their lawn, but did you know that your trees and shrubs add as much or more value than a well-manicured lawn? Mature trees and shrubs are also much more difficult to replace than turf. Not only is the cost of removal and replacement high, but it can also take decades for the new plant to achieve the size and value of one that was lost. A custom plant health care plan can proactively keep your landscape healthy and looking great. Once a tree or shrub starts to decline, in many cases it is extremely difficult to reverse. We have the plant and pest knowledge to ensure your plants are protected against common ailments year after year. We will base your treatment and fertilization program on your plants and soil characteristics. This is not a blanket approach. We donโ€™t spray more or less than necessary, which can do more harm than good. We also offer eco-friendly and organic programs, if you are concerned about pesticide use in your landscape. There are many safer options available that can work just as well for many problems. Arbor-Jet Trunk Injections
With the ArborJet system, we have the ability to inject pesticides or nutrients directly into the trunk of trees. This eliminates chemical waste, spray residue around your home, and ensures that the product gets into the tree quickly and efficiently. If you are having issues with large trees on your property, call and ask us about trunk injections today. Deep Root Feeding
With our liquid soil injection equipment, we can place nutrients under your turf or mulch and directly in the root zone. This ensures that nutrients get into your tree and shrub where it is needed, and arenโ€™t wasted. We have a variety of fertilization options, based on your plant type, soil type, and soil fertility levels.

Chlorosis.

Chlorotic trees are a common sight in Northwest Ohio, primarily due to our abundance of limestone creating alkaline soil. Unfortunately, many of our beloved ornamental species prefer acidic soil.

Rhododendron, Red Maple, Pin Oak, Birch, Dogwood, and various evergreen species are some of the most common species affected. However, the truth is that most ornamental plants like the soil to be a little acidic.

Fortunately, we have several tools to remediate this problem. We utilize high iron, acidic fertilizer injected directly below the soil surface into the root system. For particularly bad cases, we can add extra sulfur, which acidifies soil.

Large trees can also be directly injected with micronutrients to pull them back from the brink, and our spray programs utilize foliar fertilizers in season to give growing plants a much needed boost.

Oystershell scale

This is a devastating insect pest that attacks a large variety of our trees and shrubs. They are small, only a few millimeters long. They also don't move, so it's hard to tell that they are there and are an actual insect. Fortunately, they are easier to see during the dormant season. Now is the time to have a look and have us formulate a treatment plan.

Common species infested include:
Red and silver maple, Japanese maple, American elm, birch, pagoda dogwood, blackgum, and many, MANY more.

These critters require special treatment, as spraying often isn't enough. Left untreated, they can kill off small branches and then entire limbs. They also cause chlorosis (yellowing leaves) and weaken the rest of the tree.

Don't let them go unchecked, give us a call today!
