Chilled Peach Soup with Fresh Goat Cheese

Chef Jason Franey makes this sweet and tangy summer soup by marinating fresh peaches overnight with dried apricots, honey, vinegar and olive oil and then pureeing the mixture. Since peaches can vary in flavor, Franey suggests seasoning with vinegar to taste as you puree.

Jason Franey of Seattle's Canlis makes this chilled peach soup by marinating peaches overnight with dried apricots, vinegar and honey then pureeing the mixture.

Maya’s Farm first to be saved by Phoenix Farmland Preservation Program

Maya Dailey plants zinnias along a small portion of her nearly 3½-acre organic farm just north of South Mountain Park. It’s on 32nd Street between Southern Avenue and Baseline Road — an unexpected spot for horses, chickens, goats and lush crops.

When the land she rents went on the market three years ago, Dailey faced losing the plot she had spent seven years cultivating.

“What that does immediately for me as a farmer is it takes my wind out of my sails,” she said.

“I think Arizona has made a big mistake and has not really thought about the value that (the urban farming) industry brought to our country, the world and to our local community, and we didn’t protect it.”

When people think of a carrot, it’s doubtless that the mind is immediately brought to the bright orange root with the green foliage. The same one that is often found sticking out of the face of a snowman during winter.

But does everyone know that orange is just one of the many colors that carrots naturally come in? In fact, orange isn’t even the most common color of carrots outside of the Americas!

International Carrot Day is a perfect opportunity to learn more about all of the various cultivars of carrot, and what they can bring to the enjoyment and nutrition of meals!

Bake it into a cake, crunch it with some ranch, or cook it up in a butter sauce: the carrot is healthy, tasty, and surprisingly easy to grow for your own.

About Our Seeds

Seeds from Italy is the exclusive U.S. distributor for Franchi Seeds, Italy's oldest family-owned seed company, founded in 1783. We sell more than 500 varieties of Italian heirloom vegetable, herb, and flower seeds. Franchi Seeds is known worldwide for the quality of its seeds, resulting in high germination rates, vigorous plants, and delicious food. Franchi's seed packets are big and beautiful — generous seed counts and full-color photographs of every variety. Our seeds are untreated, most are open-pollinated, and many are certified organic.

Seeds from Italy is a member of the Safe Seed Initiative, which means we have pledged to never knowingly buy or sell genetically modified seeds or plants.

Will Italian seeds grow here? YES! These seeds grow well all over the United States. We know you will be delighted with the produce from your garden when you grow our seeds.

Please note that due to heavy order volume during the busy season (Feb-March) it may take up to 10 business days for your order to ship.  For fastest service, please select the Expedited shipping option, which will pull your order to the front of the queue.

Italians have come up with many creative ways to prepare and serve artichokes. One of the more show-stopping ways is stuffing them with Parmesan and seasoned breadcrumbs so the petals stretch out like a blooming flower. It’s a fantastic appetizer and an Easter staple in many Italian American homes.

They're easier to make than you might think.
