Glen Carbon’s Board of Trustees voted unanimously this week to establish the boundaries for a sales tax and revenue bond district for the development. The goal is creating “a premier entertainment, tourism and mixed-use destination,” according to the developer.

Construction bids for the proposed new water treatment plant were received earlier this week. The bids were competitive and came in below the initial project cost estimates. In the coming weeks, the Board will consider whether to move forward with this significant infrastructure investment.

Glen Carbon neighbors — a new development opportunity is beginning to take shape in our community. As plans evolve and more details become available, I’ll be sure to share updates.

This project has the potential to make a meaningful impact on our village, and community input will be essential. I encourage you to stay engaged and share your thoughts as we work together to shape Glen Carbon’s future.

While no development has been approved, the move keeps the village eligible for a project.

Tonight’s Village Board meeting will cover several important topics, including the 2026 tax levy and budget, the auditor’s professional services agreement, the police union contract, and revised building permit fees. If you have opinions or concerns about any of these items, I encourage you to come to the meeting and share your thoughts.

The meeting begins at 7pm.

With support from a Community Impact Grant from ECF, the Village of Glen Carbon Senior Center will soon install a new water bottle refill station.

Refilling reusable containers helps reduce plastic waste and lowers the cost of purchasing disposable bottles. By adding this station, the Center hopes to make it easier—and more appealing—for members to choose reusable options in their daily lives. 💧💙

Each year, ECF's Community Impact Grants support projects that create lasting benefits for ECUSD #7 residents. Grantees raise a 10% match in new cash donations, keeping community investment at the heart of local progress.

Big night at the board meeting! While the tax levy was an important item, I’m especially excited about the approval of our Comprehensive Plan. After months of community input and collaboration, we now have a roadmap to guide our decisions and investments for the years ahead. Grateful to everyone who took part in shaping our community’s future! 💬🏘️

Trustees also approved the next phase of work on the shared-use path along Glen Carbon Road.

Proud to serve on the Edwardsville Community Foundation board and to be part of moments like this. Thanks to the generosity of the Kriege family and the commitment of ECF, $1.35 million is being invested in new parks, green space, and an all-abilities playground—projects that will truly enrich our community for generations to come.

Thank you, Mayor Marcus.
