Attention Valued Salt Customers,
Please be advised of the following updates regarding current salt availability:
Customers who typically purchase de-icing salt will be limited to regular de-icing salt only (no bags, no treated bulk). Customers who typically purchase treated salt will be supplied with precedence, for the remainder of the season until we run out of current on-hand quantities.
The salt supply situation continues to deteriorate daily. Several states have begun sending representatives to port facilities to ensure that state contracts are being fulfilled. As a result, multiple commercial contracts have already been suspended, some as early as last week.
While we proactively secured a significant allocation earlier this year in anticipation of above-average snowfall, the current state of emergency and widespread product shortage has severely impacted availability across the industry. As weather conditions remain unpredictable, even a larger allocation may not have fully mitigated the present circumstances.
We are doing everything possible to maintain supply for our customers—and by comparison, our efforts have positioned us better than many others. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate these challenges!
If the storms continue at the levels currently forecasted, there is a strong possibility that additional shortages may occur.
