Some news, friends— The 2025 Women’s Club of Glen Ridge Home and Garden Tour features a great deal of our recent work. Karin and I will be on site all afternoon, and we hope to see you on May 4th!
This year the tour is a fundraiser for the Centennial Celebration and Capital Campaign for repair of the 100-year-old clubhouse’s slate roof. We consider this very much a worthy cause, and hope you will purchase tickets via the QR code.

Windows of our design for an addition to and renovation of a Queen Anne house in Ridgewood, completed ten years ago. We set out to make a superb family house, and we believe we succeeded. Our clients intend never to sell. A lovely ten-year anniversary evening with our clients, craftspeople, and friends. Such a treat!

Nice news! A few weeks back, the Glen Ridge Historical Society recognized our clients with the 2022 Preservation Award. The program recognizes owners for their vision and effort, and for using the House Files in the archive to raise a “renovation” project to something approaching the status of a Restoration. It is not about being pretty or expensive. It’s about being *accurate*

A recent photograph of the then-new transitional Craftsman/Gothic fireplace we designed for our Gothic House, completed in 2007 in the Glen Ridge Historic District.

The house was published as a case study by Mark Alan Hewitt and Gordon Bock in **The Vintage House: A Guide to Successful Renovations and Additions.** A copy is in your local library!

The house recently changed hands, and the curious can find a link to the listing in another recent post. Our exterior paint scheme has been changed, which saddens us.

We added the tower, and the cranky volume in back. The exterior colors are entirely ours, and we love them as they are.
Bonus: a new Roman Thermae window design for the existing eyebrow. (Interior decoration largely by others. We hope new owners will paint the trusses over the playroom as we intended, and repaint the exterior in our original rich colors—the trim is Benjamin Moore Dragon's Breath 1547.)

Occasionally, all a family really needs is a new bathroom. Ours are designed with a careful mix of custom and off-the-shelf items that achieve a classic appearance and an elevated degree of durability and functionality.

Small spaces suffice if one is willing to sweat the small things.

Lovely visit on a lovely morning, with an honored old client. 4 cars (one on a lift) and machine shop. Always a muscle car being rebuilt in this, the Ultimate Man Cave in the historic district.
