Construction Spotlight: Wisconsin Construction Team

Our Wisconsin team recently completed a major supermarket construction project in Rhinelander, WI, where crews installed two secondary glycol systems off the existing refrigeration racks.

Planned by Mike Gishkowsky, Construction Manager, and led in the field by Ben Fleischman, Journeyman, this project was a true team effort involving both construction and service teams from start to finish.

From running pipe and setting skids on the roof to startup and commissioning, every member of the branch played a role in delivering this project successfully.

What makes this project especially impressive is that the final walkthrough resulted in a zero-item punch list. For a project of this size and complexity, that is a major achievement and a clear reflection of the team’s planning, communication, craftsmanship, and attention to detail.

Because the project site was a four-hour drive from the Milwaukee branch, team members spent extended time away from home to help ensure the job was completed successfully. Their dedication and teamwork truly represent Climate Pros' values in action.

Mike and Ben have worked and traveled together on projects for nearly 20 years. When the workday wraps up, the two can often be found exploring local hiking trails or finding a nearby fishing spot before getting ready to do it all again the next day.

Congratulations to Mike, Ben, and the entire Wisconsin team on an outstanding project.

🌱 Growth in Action at NASRC Training Summit

Climate Pros was proud to participate in the NASRC Natural Refrigerant Training Summit in Irwindale, CA (April 21–23).

Representing Climate Pros at the event were DJ Donahue, Anthony Almanza, Brad Adams, and Charles Lopez, who spent time sharing insight into the trade, discussing career opportunities, and connecting with future technicians entering the industry.

These events create valuable opportunities for training, networking, and recruiting, while helping introduce the next generation to careers in commercial refrigeration and natural refrigerants. Last year, connections made at this summit led to the hiring of four entry-level technicians, with several still thriving on our team today.

A big thank you to our team for representing Climate Pros and helping build the future of our industry.

🔧 Technical Training Spotlight

Earlier this month, technicians from across the company participated in Refrigeration Essentials Part II: Advanced Troubleshooting at our Georgetown Technical Training Center.

Led by Adam Rumpz, Field Training Manager and Steve Thornsberry, Front-Line Technical Trainer, the 3.5-day course focused heavily on hands-on troubleshooting and simulated service calls designed around real-world field scenarios.

Technicians worked through electrical diagnostics, defrost troubleshooting, compressor lockouts, wiring diagrams, and systematic troubleshooting processes in a lab environment built to strengthen confidence and technical skill.

Participant feedback from the class was overwhelmingly positive, with technicians sharing:
“The labs were organized and the simulated calls diagnosed were perfect scenarios for our everyday jobs.”
“Instructors were friendly and added relevance to each scenario, which made the class engaging and enjoyable.”

Participants also noted they would be able to apply what they learned immediately back in the field.

As an added bonus, Steve Thornsberry, Field Service Supervisor from Tampa, FL, is now a certified instructor for this course, enabling us to reach more technicians across the company.
We thank Adam, Steve, and all participating technicians for their commitment to our customers and our industry.

West Coast Training Spotlight

The Santa Rosa team recently hosted a voluntary after-hours training session focused on developing foundational skills for new technicians.

Over the course of two nights, nearly two-thirds of the North Bay team showed up on their own time to learn, collaborate, and sharpen their skills. From apprentices and warehouse drivers to journeymen and supervisors, the turnout and engagement spoke volumes.

Led by Field Service Supervisor Vince Scharf, the session featured a custom-built controls board using repurposed components, along with hands-on brazing practice to build confidence and reinforce core techniques.

The feedback from the team was just as strong as the attendance, with several technicians highlighting the value of learning together and simply spending time as a team.

Thank you all for your outstanding work and dedication to Climate Pros' core values!

Hands-On CO₂ Training in Springfield

Climate Pros recently hosted a specialized CO₂ refrigeration training in Springfield, MO, led by Louie Smith, Sr. Technical Training Manager, and Adam Rumpz, Field Training Manager. In partnership with UA Local 178, the program combined classroom instruction with hands-on field experience at local customer sites.

This training marked a major step forward, giving technicians the opportunity to work directly on live CO₂ systems. Participants practiced pumping down a rack, replacing a separator filter, safely bringing the system back online, and properly charging CO₂ under supervision.

A big thank you to Kenny Coupland from the St. Louis Branch for coordinating the week’s activities. From organizing the training facility to working closely with customers and ensuring materials were ready, Kenny’s preparation and communication played a key role in making this training a success.

Investing in hands-on training like this is critical to the continued success and upskilling of our experienced technicians, as well as the development of our next generation of technicians.
