We taught them about lilies, colors, cost.
They decorated their pots, and planted their "Janice Brown" plant.

Thinking about adding daylilies to your garden? Here are a few tips to help them thrive!

The best time to plant is before they put on scapes (roughly before mid June in Iowa) or after they finish blooming (around August 1 or later). That said, they can be planted just about any time, and most will bloom their very first season!

Give them about 18 inches of space between plants, and don't worry about dividing them unless the clump starts producing less than half as many blooms as you'd expect. They'll tell you when they're ready.

When you first get them in the ground, dig your hole, water it, then mix your soil and water into a slurry and set your plant right into it. Water consistently for about two weeks while they get established, and after that? They're pretty much on their own. Daylilies are one of the most low maintenance plants you can grow.
