Hi everyone, with this incoming storm, there's a few things to remember; It is never safe to cut a tree on power lines without Central Maine Power's approval. A lot of trees will be uprooted and there is a tremendous amount of tension in the tree when this happens. When cutting these, please be careful as each piece can do what they call a “barber chair”
This is when the tree splits up on it self with an excessive amount of force and speed. Yes, it can happen on limbs that are lateral or even touching the ground, not just when the tree is still upright. Root balls are very very heavy, and will most likely have water under them. If cutting the stump off the tree, be aware of your surroundings. Do not ever get into the hole or behind the stump. AK Fickett Tree has two crane company’s assisting us this weekend with any storm damage. We will have 1 crane available tomorrow and 2 on Sunday. If you find a tree is on your house or other structure, please let the professionals take care of it. We do not want to see anyone get hurt trying to remove a tree.
