Auggie and I had the chance this week to deliver some Flour&Flair treats to the ladies at our local post office. I told them it was to apologize for my wife's constant Amazon orders... but it was really to say thank you for all they do for our small community.

Our local post office is amazing! They have helped us so much with the shipping and receiving as we've got our packaging business up and running and they have been great with answering all my questions.

Oops! I was supposed to post this last week, but I'm not the best at this social media thing... 😅

It's kind of a pain trying to cram social media into an already packed schedule. But one thing Samantha and I think will make it easier is highlighting some of the other amazing businesses in our area.

Being a new business on Main Street is very exciting for us and we want to make sure our neighbors know how much we appreciate them putting up with us during construction. So, we delivered some Mama Q’s Home Bakery cookies (so good!), to a few businesses including our friends at Chadwick's Mercantile.

Chadwick's is an awesome local business, and they have whatever you need for quilting, and farmwear. Check them out and ask about the Shop Hop they are participating in. Thanks, Chadwick's!

If you have never had your roof inspected, it's probably time!

We have seen a lot of wind damage this year. Many roof problems can be fixed with a simple inspection.

It's not always time for a new roof, despite what the door-to-door salesmen say.

☀️The sun is out! And, so is the roofing crew!!!

We're excited that we're able to get on a roof this week and start our season early. This means that we'll be able to fit in more roofs this year than usual!

Many roofs in the county have been damaged by heavy snowfall, ice, and wind over the last few years. If yours was one of them and needs to be looked at, reach out for an estimate. We'd love to add you to our schedule!

*Wind Damage*

A customer called us for this repair last year, and it is a good example of what the wind can do to a roof.

Wind got under these shingles, which were high-nailed by a different contractor, and ripped them up in a sheet. Many companies will tell you they have to replace the whole roof. This roof was only a few years old, and we saved our customer thousands of dollars by offering to repair it instead of replacing it.

We've had a lot of wind the past few months, and checking on your roof sooner, rather than later, can save you a lot of money!

Tips for keeping your shingle roof where it should be:

- Inspect your roof yearly, if you can.
- Look for missing shingles or caps.
- Check your penetrations and reapply sealant if needed.
- Clean your gutters and keep an eye out for granule loss.
- Inspect your fascia and soffit for damage.

We usually do our roof inspections in the spring, and this is a great time to check on your roof. I'll share our roof inspection checklist in another post so you know what to look for if you'd like to do it yourself.

First things first! Before we were able to do much inside the old theater, we needed to get a new roof on. The old one was missing a few things...

What likely happened here was wind got under the old BUR (Built Up Roof) and ripped it off. You can see some newly exposed decking from that storm we had in the Spring last year. In my experience, these roofs are not usually maintained as they should be, and this can be the result.

The old shiplap roof deck had been exposed to the weather for many years. We tore out and patched the worst areas. Then, put a new OSB roof deck on top.

Wind damage is common in our area and isn't always this easy to see. I'll post some photos tomorrow of some of the wind damage we've seen this year.

We promised some photos of the inside of the old theater, so here we go! It was in really rough shape when we started. Ceiling panels were falling in. Insulation was hanging everywhere. I fell through the stage at one point because it was so rotted, because the roof above the stage had blown off years earlier.

Now the fun part! Demolition!

We unbolted all the old seats so we could move them around and get rid of the worst of them. The ends on the seats are beautiful old cast iron, and we're going to do a special project with some of them, so stay tuned for that!

We will be posting updates throughout the week, as well as letting you get to know our team better and showing some of the work we've completed for our customers recently.
