🍂 Oak Wilt Safe Trimming Season Is Almost Here 🍂

One of the best ways to protect your oak trees from oak wilt is to trim them during the recommended pruning season. As temperatures warm up and the risk of transmission drops, it's the ideal time to tackle overdue tree maintenance.

Get on our schedule now for:

🌳 Dead wood removal
🌳 Healthy canopy reductions
🌳 Clearance pruning
🌳 Structural pruning for long-term tree health

If your oaks need attention, summer and winter are the safest times to get the work done while minimizing the risk of oak wilt infection.

Our calendar fills quickly this time of year, so don't wait to reserve your spot.

🥶What to Do If Your Trees Are Covered in Ice🥶

Ice accumulation on trees significantly increases limb weight and the risk of sudden branch failure. Follow these safety guidelines to reduce the risk of injury and property damage.

🧊Do not walk or park under tree branches if possible. Ice can cause limbs to snap without warning due to excess load and shifting temperatures.

🧊Do not attempt to shake ice off branches. This can cause immediate breakage and increase damage to the tree.

🧊Avoid pruning during an ice event. Trees are under stress, and improper cuts can worsen structural damage.

🧊Watch for hanging or cracked limbs. These are high-risk hazards that often fall later, even after ice begins to melt.

🧊Call a professional tree service for assessment and removal. Certified crews have the equipment and training to safely manage ice-damaged trees.

Ice-damaged trees can remain dangerous well after the storm has passed. If you are unsure about the safety of a tree on your property, professional evaluation is the safest course of action.

"Just a quarter to half inch of ice? What's the big deal?"

Ice is HEAVY, and when it falls in the form of freezing rain, it sticks to everything. Every leaf, branch, and twig on a tree gathering ice adds up to a lot of weight in a hurry.

Worst-case scenario for this weekend could bring some 0.5" totals to Central Texas. On a 30ft wide tree, that adds up to more than 7,000 pounds of ice, or roughly 109.5 fully-grown golden retrievers. That's enough to send some limbs tumbling into powerlines in some instances.

A well-maintained tree is not just about looks. It is about function and protection.

Proper canopy lifting and balanced pruning allow you to mow easily underneath without fighting low limbs or damaging equipment. More importantly, a balanced crown reduces wind resistance, which significantly lowers the risk of limb failure and trunk stress when storms move through.

Trees that are left bottom-heavy or uneven are far more likely to split, uproot, or drop large limbs under high winds.

Strategic pruning shifts weight, improves structure, and protects both the tree and the property around it.

If you want trees that are easier to maintain, safer in storms, and healthier long term, this is what professional tree care looks like.

🌬If your trees survived last night, they might still be holding a grudge.🌬

We had some serious wind come through overnight, with gusts pushing 50 to 60 mph, and storms like that can leave damage you cannot see at first glance.

Even when nothing falls, high winds can cause internal cracking, split limbs, or stress at the roots that shows up later.

Today is a great day to walk your property and check your trees. Watch for fresh cracks, hanging or partially broken limbs, and branches resting on fences, roofs, or other structures. Wind damage that gets ignored has a habit of turning into bigger problems with the next weather change.

If you find downed limbs or anything that looks questionable, give us a call. We offer free estimates and are happy to take a look.

❄️We Guarantee Our Work Through Spring❄️

Right now is the time to remove dead wood before it becomes a problem. Dead branches turn brittle in cold weather and they are the first to snap during ice, wind, or storms. Cleaning up the dead wood in your trees now helps prevent damage to your roof, fences, and vehicles later.

When we trim trees in winter, some dead branches can be hard to identify without leaves. To give you peace of mind, we guarantee our work through spring. If a branch we could not see turns out to be dead once the leaves return, we will come back and remove it at no cost.

Send us a message and we can get you on the schedule.
