I've taken several properties that were pretty "meh" and transformed them into beautiful and functional outdoor retreats and living spaces. This current property presents a whole new set of challenges that I've never had to deal with. I love blank slates to work with, but this mostly blank slate is buried beneath 3-5 layers, and 18 years of improvised w**d barrier and large, jagged sandstone. I know this type of xeroscaping is popular in hot, dry climates where water is a precious commodity, but if you want anything to grow in it, you need to do it right the first time and call the professionals to install it. Unfortunately, this was not the case here. Here's a fun fact most professionals don't tell you about these rock landscapes in hot, dry areas...
