The Garden Boat

Once it rode the river wide,
Now it holds the earth inside.
No longer drifting, waves to chase—
It anchors in a greener place.

Its belly full of loam and seed,
A hull reborn to serve new need.
Vines will climb its wirey sails,
As cucumbers catch summer gales.

Oars retired, and anchor still,
It charts a course by root and will.
No storm to flee, no tide to test—
This vessel plants, and knows its rest.
