Improving the use of this bathroom space was such worthwhile endeavor! Getting the toilet relocated, eliminating the awkward neo-angle shower, and building a proper linen closet really simplified the function of this roomy 3/4 bath. Hazel the Pup is pretty excited about the shower wand for routine baths too!

Would love to lay some of this plank!

MTM is experimenting with a form of Japanese Shou Sugi Ban - basically wood burning. This is circle cut / skip planed native Minnesota Bur Oak flooring from Rajala Forestry lands, burned with a w**d burner torch, with clear flooring finish. What do you think?

This project offered a couple very unique challenges, but they were handled! Scribing drywall around log walls and beams is the obvious one. The second was cramming two closets, side by side, to use up some floor space, and greatly increase the available storage in this lovely cabin. In order to make this happen, conventional framing had to be thrown out the window. It’s worth mentioning that this is the second shower alcove with an open partition wall completed, and they do such a nice job keeping the spaces lit and open feeling. The skip-sawn hardwood flooring was provided by Minnesota Timber & Millwork, and they nailed it, per usual!

All that glitters is gold (and glossy white)! Who’d have thought that such a simply layout would look so dang good? Vertical stacked subway tile is crisp, and in this case compliments the tall shaker cabinet doors perfectly.

What started out as a simple bedroom drywall project, turned into a complete makeover of the lower level of a beautiful Moose Point home. The Black Ash Tongue and Groove ceilings and accent wall are the most notable feature. A big thanks to Minnesota Timber & Millwork for all their hard work in supplying it! The Shaw Floorte Homestead Canvas vinyl plank flooring creates a nice contrast, tied together by the refinished stairs. Some finer details to note are the bedroom window boxes, the elimination of the hallway closet, and the retrofitting of some top-notch fiberglass exterior doors from Latvala Lumber Co.

Excited to finally share some photos of this long-time-coming project! This was a largely unfinished basement that now has a ton of character. Due to the low ceilings woven with all sorts of mechanicals, we opted for leaving it exposed and selected a paint to compliment the flooring. Doors, trim, cladding, etc. will be finished by a painter in the weeks to come and stylish light fixtures are yet to be selected, so stay tuned!

Here are a couple of drywall projects from the past few months! There’s something very satisfying about the bars and boxes formed by the mud.

Recently finished this deceiving small bathroom project. From one corner to its diagonal opposite, this floor was out of level by nearly three inches. With a bit of floor joist reframing and reinforcements, along with some self-leveler used where necessary, this thing is back to flat.

Unfortunately the after pictures are a little lackluster, but hopefully you can still appreciate how much of an improvement was made to this space!
