There’s something special about a city that knows how to gather. 🍽️✨

The Best of Grand Rapids party was more than just an event filled with incredible food and local businesses. It was a celebration of connection, community, creativity, and the people who make this city feel so welcoming and alive.

There’s just something special about seeing people come together to celebrate the heart of our city. 💙

As someone whose heart behind My Chunky Table has always been about gathering people together around food and meaningful experiences, nights like this feel especially inspiring. Food has such a beautiful way of creating conversations, building friendships, and turning ordinary moments into memories.

So grateful to be part of a community that continues to value gathering, supporting local, and celebrating one another. 💙

Building connection over perfection. 🍰✨

This beautiful layered cake is one of my favorite desserts because it takes away the pressure of perfectly decorating and focuses more on the experience of building a cake to enjoy together.

I loved being back on Fox Morning Mix with Michelle and Todd sharing laughs, building a cake together, and reminding people that the kitchen can be a place for confidence, creativity, and connection. 💙

If you’d like to watch the full Fox Morning Mix segment to see my favorite way to cut and serve a cake, I’ll share the link in the caption/comments below.

Two crepe classes this week and I loved every minute of it 💙

From learning the techniques to creating their own crepe masterpiece,
my favorite part is watching everyone come together and so proud of what they made.

Crepes have become one of our family favorites, especially when we’re inviting people over or hosting a dessert night. It’s such a fun way to turn dessert into an activity and create your own experience together.

It’s always more than just the recipe… it’s the time spent together, the conversations, and the memories created along the way.

I’d love to have you join me in the kitchen sometime 💙

The best part of Tokyo…
was the tables 💙

Every table, a place to gather.
To try something new.
To share it together.

Getting to bring my best friends along
to a place that has my heart…
made it all the more meaningful.

And this was just the beginning of so many more tables to come 💙

What’s a table you’ve experienced that you’ll never forget?

I had so much fun sharing my Chocolate Raspberry Torte on Fox 17 Morning Mix.

It’s one of those desserts that looks impressive, but when you break it down step by step, it becomes something you can actually create and feel proud of.

Layers of rich chocolate cake, a creamy raspberry filling, and those chocolate curls on top… it’s as delicious as it looks.

If you’ve ever wanted to try making something like this, this is exactly what I teach in my classes. 💙
You can find upcoming classes and details on my website

Comment “CAKE” and I’ll send you the full recipe

Tag me if you make it. I would LOVE to see what you create.

Last week our kitchen table turned into something a little different.

Instead of cooking, we were tying ribbons and threading candy.

We made 80 candy leis for the cast, crew, and directors of the musical my boys were in. I loved that all of my boys jumped in to help, and before long we had recruited dad and grandma too.

I think when kids are given the chance to be part of creating something, it makes the giving even more special. They know they helped make it happen.

One of my favorite moments was watching the kids place the leis around their friends’ necks after the show and seeing all the smiles.

Sometimes the most meaningful things we make aren’t meals.

Sometimes they’re small gifts that say,
“We’re proud of you.”

I’d love to hear…
What’s something your family has made together for someone else?

Two classes. Two cultures. One very happy kitchen.

The last couple of weeks have been so much fun teaching in the kitchen.

One of the highlights was having my father-in-law join me to teach his family’s Greek spaghetti recipe from his Great Aunt Athena. It’s a recipe full of tradition and flavor, and sharing that with everyone who came to the class made the night really special.

Then we traveled across the world (through food) for our Korean kimbap class. It was so fun watching people roll their first kimbap and realize they could actually make it themselves.

One of my favorite parts of teaching is when students get excited and start talking about recreating the recipes at home for their families.

Cooking classes aren’t just about recipes. They’re about confidence, connection, and gathering around the table together.

Thank you to everyone who joined me in the kitchen. I loved spending the evening cooking with you.

And good news… my spring class schedule will be coming out soon, so stay tuned!

Some of the best recipes aren’t written in a cookbook.

They’re learned standing next to someone in the kitchen. Watching their hands, asking questions, tasting along the way.

Tonight we made one of our favorite Greek meals together. Everyone had a role in bringing it to the table, from the chicken souvlaki and lemon rice to the dolmadas and homemade tzatziki.

I love meals like this because they remind me that cooking is about so much more than food. It’s about learning from each other and keeping those traditions going.

Every time someone teaches a recipe, they’re passing along a little piece of their story to the next generation.

And those are the recipes that matter most.

What’s a recipe in your family that you hope never gets lost? 💙

Some of my favorite memories start in the kitchen.

One of the first meals I remember my father-in-law cooking for me was his Great Aunt Athena’s Greek spaghetti. It was so good that I asked him to teach me how to make it.

Family recipes are never just about the ingredients. They carry stories, culture, and the hands that made them before us.

He’s spending the week with us, and this Thursday he’ll be joining me in the kitchen to teach that very recipe. The same one that’s been passed down through his family for generations.

There’s something so special about gathering around food that means something.

If you’ve ever wanted to learn a meaningful family recipe and cook alongside us, we still have a few seats open for Thursday night. I would love to have you join us.
