The remodels that go smoothly almost always have one thing in common: the homeowner figured out the right questions before they ever talked to a contractor.

A few things worth knowing upfront:
Start with how you actually use the space, not what looks good on Pinterest. Two sinks or one? Tub or no tub? Bench in the shower? Function first.

Know what drives the cost. Tile square footage, plumbing relocations, shower glass. These are where budgets move the most.

And before you sign with anyone, ask where the stone gets fabricated, who's doing the tile work, and who your point of contact is when something comes up.

Same kitchen, but a completely different feel! Dark lower cabinets, white uppers, and a stone island that has room to sit at. The wave tile behind the range is the kind of detail that makes the whole thing feel intentional, not just renovated. Two-tone cabinetry like this is harder to pull off than it looks, the proportions have to be right or it feels off. These don't!

One of the questions we hear most often on kitchen consultation is whether it’s better to choose Granite or Quartz for countertops. Granite is natural stone, pulled from the earth. Every slab is one of a kind. It needs to be sealed periodically and holds up well to daily kitchen use. Quartz is engineered, which means it's more consistent slab to slab if you're particular about color and veining consistency.

Both are low maintenance but need a little different kind of care. Save this post for when you're ready for new countertops!

Porcelain handles the most. Natural stone looks the best but asks more of you. Luxury vinyl tile wins on comfort and price. Mosaic belongs in the shower more than on the floor.

The right one depends on the bathroom, the budget, and how much maintenance you actually want to deal with.
