Feeding this morning and I hear a panicked cry. My favorite bird Freya managed to get stuck behind an empty chest freezer we keep outside for dry storage feed. My heart just about stopped. I was able to free her and she was wobbly but good. I'm telling you homesteading is not for the weak. Damn bird.

We are getting ready to send another cow to camp and will have more fat to render. I have a few jars of lightly scented lavender tallow I need to sell. Normally $20 a jar but in order to move them to make room for new. $15 a jar or 2 for $20.

9 broody hens!! 9!!! Seriously these birds find every excuse to not lay. Not enough light, too cold, too hot, broody and then molting. This is why I have so many birds. Gotta keep the numbers high to even get eggs.
