For our nature lovers and visitors who’ve asked about our owls… here is the link to their nest box. We have three owlets who are 28 and 27 days old. Two may fledge tonight after 8:30 and leave the nest to start their lives in the world. Mom and dad are here guarding. The biggest owlet is named Ace. 😂🩷🦉🦉🦉

One of our absolute favorite Southern fancy plants in the garden…Seashore Mallow, Coastal Mallow, Salt Marshmallow (yes, part of the edible marshmallow family), and also known as Kosteletzkya pentacarpos/virginica. A former Virginia Wildflower of the Year, we caught sight of this beauty a few years ago and started ours from cuttings that were sourced in Virginia. These grow in coastal areas along the eastern seaboard and gulf coast. They tolerate saltwater (have a saltwater pool? This is your girl!) but thrive in fresh water, too. Winter hardy in zones 5-10.

Not sold in nurseries. Don’t overlook this high-performance plant!

Potted and ready to plant. $40 each.

For our Hill Country friends, we are traveling to Austin on Tuesday, June 15 to deliver plants. We have a few remaining potted Seashore Mallow (rare), Dragon Breath Celosia, two tricolor Tutti Frutti bougainvillea (trellised), three confederate rose (hardy hibiscus) cuttings (rooted and leafed), one rare Chinese ground orchid, one 2 gallon fig, a potted rare white canna “Alaska”, Swedish ivy hanging baskets, etc. If you want to request a plant and meet up, let us know!

One of the rarest native hibiscus plants in the world is about to bloom in our garden.
The Neches River Rosemallow (Hibiscus dasycalyx) is critically imperiled, only growing wild in small acreages in East Texas near the Neches River and Trinity River. Efforts to conserve this flowering perennial are in progress.
Lovely halbard leaves!

**We want to extend a special thanks to our friend and master gardener, Linda Kelso Epstein, for graciously helping us revive this plant which was declining late last fall.

What a storm in N. Texas! 😣 We have some tree limbs down and minor structure damage, and small hail. We lost a few valuable plants.
Rotation was seen up the road; it won’t surprise me if we had a popup spinner or straight line winds over 70 mph. After being in a bunch of hurricanes, this was pretty close if not more than hurricane-force wind that just blew through Grapevine.
How is everyone? Let us know how you’re doing. 🙏🏼
