Tree Climber, Groundwork, Laborer

Elements Tree Service Inc. currently has positions available for Climbers and Groundies!

All applicants MUST have proper experience within the related areas of the tree industry standards that correlate directly with ISA and TCIA SAFE and EFFECTIVE tree care and removal practices.

We are open to training on an individual basis if your experience does not meet this criteria, however that will be determined on a very specific and critical basis and process.

Please Be 100% Honest about your level of experience.

We Do Not Encourage Dishonesty!

We Ask that you have a minimum of 2 years experience in climbing, technical rigging, hazardous removals and all necessary Groundie skills achieved prior to your climbing experience.

You Must be qualified and capable of safely executing all aspects of tree removal, proper pruning and trimming and operating vehicles and chippers. This includes safe and proper use of a chainsaw.

Clean driving record, 3 years minimum, required.

This is a Drug-free work environment.

Tree Climber Job Posting

• Job Summary: This position requires the hired individual(s) to be adversely skilled independently and successfully performing various climbing and technical rigging procedures, along with operating and maintaining various equipment to ensure safe and efficient tree care. Collaborating with crew members to complete projects on time while maintaining and executing high-quality standards. Operating as an active crew member to lead the ground crew while supporting the foreman’s responsibilities. With the dedication to preserving and maintaining the natural aesthetics while ensuring the safety and health of the trees we work with.

Duties
• Journeyman tree trimmers must be proficient in tree climbing, rigging, and roping techniques while adhering to Elements Tree Service and ANSI Z133.1 safety standards for tree care operations and procedures.
• Ability to perform all climbing duties without direct supervision.
• Ability to successfully climb trees to perform work safely and efficiently without using spikes.
• Proper pruning, thinning and removing deadwood throughout the tree canopy.
• Care and maintenance of trees for structural integrity and health.
• Removal of hazardous trees.
• Work with crane operators for complex tree removals.
• Attention to detail.
• Problem solving.
• The ability to work at heights using specialized equipment.
• Utilize advanced rigging techniques to safely maneuver heavy branches and trunk sections.
• Collaborate with crew members to complete projects on time while maintaining high-quality standards, while operating as an active crew member with supporting the ground crew and foreman.
• Provide guidance and training to junior staff on best practices in arboricultural and horticulture.
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, work trucks exc., reporting any issues promptly.



Requirements
• Must pass a skills assessment
• Physical stamina with the capability of performing rigorous labor tasks for a full workday in various outdoor conditions
• Ability to work long hours and overtime during emergencies (including holidays, weekends, storm work) and subject to call-out work
• Minimum 3 years tree climbing experience in the tree care industry
• Understand tree biology, tree identification, disease assessment, and risk assessment, growth habits, and arboricultural techniques
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Cleanliness and organization skills
• Maintain positive customer and public relations, as well as strong working relationships with crew members and foreman
• Take on a leadership role, making independent technical decisions about crew readiness and deployment
• Stay up to date on new equipment, specifications, standards, and best practices.
• Ensure safety in and around the work area for crew members and the public
• Valid driver’s license and ability to be insured by Elements Tree Service vehicle insurance policy
• Experience driving and backing up trailers, relays hand-signals, direct traffic, and keeps trucks and work area clear and orderly.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English to effectively communicate with crew members and crane operators
• Be part of a company that values expertise, efficiency, honesty and professionalism
• CPR and First Aid Certification

$30 - $40/hour
