Meet the Owner Behind Black Fern Tree Service:
Brooks Cannon has spent over a decade climbing, studying, and caring for trees across Southern Maine — and that experience shows in everything he does.
Brooks got his start running Southern Maine Stump Grinding, and spent years subcontracting as a climber for tree companies throughout the region before launching Black Fern Tree Service in 2022. Today he's a Certified Arborist through both the State of Maine and the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA).
What sets Brooks apart? He doesn't just remove trees — he treats them. If a tree has a real shot at recovering, removal is the last resort, not the first. He'll walk you through every option to restore your tree's health before anything else.
Born and raised in South Portland, Brooks now calls Gray home and proudly serves all of Southern Maine.
When he's not up in the canopy, you'll find him whitewater kayaking, camping, or at one of Portland's many concerts — and this December, he and his wife are getting ready for their biggest adventure yet: welcoming their first child, a baby girl!
