Starting March 13th in Kentucky, you can ride a dinner train through the rolling countryside on the My Old Kentucky Dinner Train that leaves from Bardstown, one of the most charming small towns in the Bluegrass State. This is one of the most memorable train rides you can take in Kentucky. You climb aboard restored railcars from the 1940s and roll along a 35-mile round trip through the heart of bourbon country. Along the way, the train passes the Jim Beam Distillery, a spot once used as a hideout by Jesse James, and the tall Jackson Hollow Trestle deep inside Bernheim Forest.

The ride lasts about two and a half hours, and during the trip you are served a fresh three- or four-course meal cooked right on the train. Before boarding, many people stop inside the depot to visit the bar or browse the gift shop. Once seated, you can enjoy bourbon or coffee while watching the Kentucky countryside pass by outside the windows. You can take this dinner train ride every Friday or Saturday starting March 13th and running through the summer.

For nearly two weeks he saved every silver bottle cap he could find and pressed them carefully into the long curling arms of an octopus that slowly came to life on the kitchen table, certain someone would lean closer to count the tentacles, but the afternoon drifted past and the moment never quite came. He stood there waiting. Small hopeful heart. Still beautifull.
