Rainy day yesterday…
piglet crew spent time with fight club in stall, just to pass out in piglet pile.
Dilcey thought I’d be great to take three day olds outside to nurse (they’ve pretty much been out since). Couldn’t complain too much since I caught her doing some fine nursing (all the way back). Good mama ☺️

How’s Dilcey and the littles? They’re doing okay, we’re working a bit over time on some lactation consulting. That would be me wo”man” handling Dilly to roll back farther on her side when nursing (eight piglets need more than one row of six teats exposed when nursing). Also doing a bit of milk supplementing Hopewell Heritage Farm style (dipping from syringe above teat as piglets nurse). Will all be worth it if Dilcey gets hang of it and begins nursing all eight well 😅

3 a.m.—I believe Dilcey’s complete at nine (sadly last boar was still born). Think she’s now proud mom of six girls and two boys 😌

At first I thought “not tonight” however Dilly Bean said “yep, tonight”. We’re on baby watch, we have milk and contractions 🥹

Our adult turkey flock flew the coop to a new home over the weekend 🦃
So this morning found me boiling the last of their eggs for pig treats and taking the shells to the chickens.
Along the way I checked on the future flock (and friends) in their new outside digs and noted a volunteer pink salvia on the way back around 😌

Sneaking up on Dilcey. So plump with babes looks like the only comfy sleeping position on on the side (I remember that problem, I feel ya girl).
She’s officially a low rider, believe the hostages may be released any day 😏
