Earth Matters invites you to

LEARN, DO AND EARN CERTIFICATION IN PERMACULTURE DESIGN;
DESIGN YOUR OWN YARD, FARM, SCHOOL OR CITY;
CREATE ABUNDANCE!

Permaculture Fundamentals and Design Course, Spring 2012
~with Dr. Charlie Headington~
Six weekends, one weekend per month, beginning in March, 2012

Permaculture Fundamentals and Design is a 72-hour course that prepares you to design your home landscape and neighboring yards, parks, schools, and farms, turning them into resilient, productive, low-maintenance, and organic edible-landscapes. Taught the world over, it shows you how to green your city and community by giving you hands-on practice in implementing the principles of ecological design. Be part of the solution!

Why would you want to take a design course in Permaculture?
Grow an abundant supply of vegetables, fruit and herbs on your own land.
Engage earth systems with mindfulness and skill.
Supplement your income.
Nurture the local community and economy.
Work towards certification as a Permaculture designer.

I propose an innovative, practical and collaborative way to learn Permaculture Design :

1. Spread it out by meeting one weekend, Saturday and Sunday, each month for six months.
2. Integrate theory and practice by working on and designing a different site each weekend.
3. Become familiar with diverse sites, including urban, suburban, rural and institutional settings. We will work with homes, businesses, institutions, farms, and neighborhoods.
4. Solve problems with diverse techniques. As we meet the challenges of each site, we will learn specific techniques for working with soil, water, energy, waste, and materials.
5. Collaborate. We will work in groups of 3-4 at each site and pool our knowledge and ideas.
6. Set your own goals. Building on your own strengths, you will set forth your own design principles, choose your own specialties, and render your own designs.
7. Connect the right and left brain functions. Whole systems synthesize beauty and function, intuition and analysis, art and science.

Become a confident designer, knowledgeable teacher, skillful practitioner, seasonal eater, local community builder, and compassionate earth-citizen.
