I was informed by my friends at Brussel’s Bonsai Nursery yesterday that my dear friend, Terry Stamps, suffered a devastating fall at his home back on January 10. I just created this Go Find Me account to help his wife, April Stamps, with the mounting medical expenses that are adding up.

Terry is one of those people you just want to spend time with. We became fast friends shortly after he began working at Brussel’s. He always had a smile and would drop everything he was doing just to help me. Whenever I was headed down to the nursery I would text or call him to let him know I was on my way. He always met me there to assist with whatever I was picking out.

He has learned so much about bonsai over the past 18 years and had the opportunity to meet and study with bonsai professionals from all over the world.

He’s an amazing man, friend, father and husband. Whenever I spoke to him, he would always talk about his wife and son, Ethan. He is simply the best! I’m sure than anyone who met him would say the same.

Styling my largest scots pine. Should finish it up today. Hoping to have it in the 8th US National Bonsai Exhibition in September 2023. I’ll post the finished product when complete.

A large and a small lantana in my collection. The large one is 16 years old and is 19.5 inches tall and has a 2 inch trunk and a smooth light c**t trunk. The smaller one is 11 years old and is 7 inches tall and has a 2 inch trunk with really rough bark.

Almost 4 years ago my son, Lincoln, took the top off of a pineapple that we bought at the grocery store. I told him that if he planted it, it would root and in a few years it would produce a pineapple. Well, last fall, I noticed a tiny pineapple beginning to form. Today, it looked ripe enough to pick. It’s huge compared to others I’ve grown in tha past. We will eat it tomorrow. Oh, and he will be starting another one using the top from this one. I put some progression shots as well.

Here’s a root over rock trident maple that I’ve had for 6 years now. I included a photo of it when I acquired it and one from 3 years ago to show its progress. I will be exhibiting it at the All-Michigan show, in Grand Rapids, MI, on May 14 and 15 and at the Rendezvous on the River in Olive Branch, MS, Memorial Day weekend.

Walked into my greenhouse this morning and it smelled like something died in there. I started investigating and found that my Amorphophallus konjac was in bloom. It stands about 36” tall and smells horrible

Was honored to have a celebrity at my place today. My friend Scott Doba brought his best friend, Brady Barr, of National Geographic fame, by to meet me and see my trees. I’ve been a fan of his for a couple of decades now. Such a great guy! Hope it won’t be the last visit. Thanks Brady!
