Wagner's Wishes Homestead My boys and I are starting a homestead to be self sustainable.

This site will be about growing food, crocheting, working around the homestead, and living day to day being a widow and dealing with young adults with autism, anxiety and depression.

A little update from the homestead. We are busting at the seams with new furbabies. Y'all meet Misty, our new tiger kitty that was a stray from my BFF Jennifer Adams.
Welllllllll, God told us we needed a large dog for the homestead, and this beautiful 4 month old chocolate lab/pitty mix fell into our hearts. Everyone meet Reggie. He is amazing and smart and so loving, and thennnnnnnn....4 new baby chicks hatched on Saturday and Sunday. Meet Ennie, Meanie, Miney, and Mo. Yep 3 girls and a boy.
We have a full house and full hearts.
Chicken coop is in process and everyone is adjusting. Sandi wants to be a mama to all and Bella wants them all gone..lol.
Nagi hasn't figured out how to get near the brooder and Boots could care less..lol. I am so in love with all my fur/feather babies. Stay tuned. More excitement will be announced soon.

After investigation of this pear tree not producing and different things wrong with it, it was found to be gangrenous and harmful to my other trees and land. As with all homesteads, sad things happen and she had to come down. Tom and I planted that tree many years ago. Rusty Drake did an amazing job taking her down and tomorrow we will cut and burn. This gives us room for 2 apple trees and another peach tree and I will be able to move the plum tree and cherry bushes to the orchard.
On a cheerful note.....we have baby peaches.....yay!!

My one percent.
In spring this mapped out area will be my no-till garden. I am preparing it now.
This area is 36 ft. By 36 ft. This does not count the 50 gal. container of garlic and all tubs in the greenhouse already planted. I have a 50 gal. growbags with 4 types of lettuce plus broccoli, radishes, beans,onions and herbs. I will be fencing it in when I can afford the fencing and poles. I will order a load of topsoil when I can afford it but now,
I'm waiting on a chip drop for the walkways and mulch and I have bookoos of woods with tons of leaves.
This area will allow me to plant to my heart's content and give back to the community.

The fall rain has started. I made it to Tractor Supply and the grocery store before it started. You do notice how I prioritize...lol

Checked the greenhouse and talked to all the little sproutlings. Put my garlic to bed with pine shavings and closed up the windows and the door. Cooler weather moving in tonight. We might have to turn on the heat. Don't hold y'all's breath on that..lol
