Storm Response Update

We’re doing everything we can to respond to everyone as quickly as possible following the recent storms. Our team is currently stretched thin, but we’re working hard to help as many customers as we can.

If you need work done, please send us clear pictures of the damage or repairs needed along with a brief description. This will allow us to provide a quick estimate and determine how we can best assist you.

Due to the high volume of storm-related requests, we are currently unable to provide in-person estimates prior to scheduling work.

Storm Restoration Update ⚡️

After a long week of storms and outages, our power is finally back on and things are starting to get back to normal. We want to thank everyone in our community for your patience and support throughout this storm.

We’ll be out of town through Monday, August 24th, and will resume normal operations on Tuesday, August 25th.

With everything going on right now, there are unfortunately a lot of scams targeting contractors and small businesses, including fake customers and people pretending to represent insurance companies.

Please stay alert, verify who you’re dealing with, and don’t let a scam take advantage of your hard work. At the same time, let’s continue looking out for one another and doing everything we can to help our community through this difficult time.

NIPSCO vs. Homeowner Responsibility ⚡️

For everyone who has been reaching out to us asking what they are responsible for repairing versus what falls under NIPSCO’s responsibility, we wanted to share this helpful diagram.

In general, NIPSCO is responsible for the equipment on their side of the service, including the utility pole, transformer, and the service wire up to the point where it connects to your home.

The property owner is generally responsible for the equipment on the home side, including the weather head, service riser, meter box, and related components attached to the house.

⚠️ Important: Every situation can be different, and damage from the recent storms may involve multiple issues. If you’re unsure where NIPSCO’s responsibility ends and yours begins, we recommend contacting NIPSCO first to have them inspect their equipment and confirm what needs to be repaired on your side.

If NIPSCO has confirmed that the damage is on the homeowner’s side, Blue Collar Handymen LLC is available to help along with Lightning Electric.

We know a lot of homeowners are dealing with storm damage right now, and we’re doing our best to help our community get things back in order.
