Look for pink!

We are back for part two, and Mil has something special.

First, she is introducing a plant she thinks deserves a spot in more Grosse Pointe gardens. We are not going to spoil it here. You will have to watch.

Then we are talking hosta. Specifically, what that discoloration you are noticing actually means and what to do about it before it gets worse.

And to close us out: allium. Mil is sharing what summer care looks like for these beauties now that the blooms have faded.

Two parts, one very good Monday. Catch part one if you missed it, and let us know in the comments what is going on in your garden right now.

Mondays with Mil is back, and we have updates.

First up: remember that boxwood situation? Mil is walking you through how the BT spray performed and what she’s seeing now. If your boxwoods have been struggling this season, this one is for you.

Then we’re talking peonies. Yes, they’re done blooming, but your work is not. Mil is sharing what summer peony maintenance actually looks like and why what you do now matters for next year.

And stay tuned for part two, because Mil has a special plant to introduce. You will want to see this one.

It is annual season in Grosse Pointe and Mil has a lot of opinions.

This week on Mondays with Mil, Mil is walking through her favorite annuals right now for pots and in-ground beds, including some new ones she is genuinely excited about. And she is doing it from the best possible place: Allemon's Landscape Center on Mack Avenue, our go-to local source for everything we love to plant.

If you have ever wondered what Mil actually reaches for when she is building a container or filling out a bed, this is the one to watch.

Drop your questions below and tell us what annuals you are planting this season. We would love to know.

🌸 Mondays with Mil | Peonies, watering, and the bunnies that want to ruin everything.
This week Mil is back on peonies and getting into the questions we hear every spring: when should you be watering, and how much is actually enough? Plus, we get into bunny repellent because if you have peonies (or really any garden bed worth having), you already know the struggle.
Mil shares her favorite product for keeping the bunnies at bay so your plants actually make it to bloom. Hit play and take notes.
🐰🌿 Save this one for your spring garden routine.

We did what we said we would. 🌿
Yesterday on Mondays with Mil, Mil talked about the right way to remove boxwood from your garden beds. And this week, that is exactly what we are doing. Out with the dead boxwood and in with something we are genuinely excited about: Ilex glabra ‘Compacta,’ a beautiful compact inkberry that gives you that same tidy, structured look without the heartbreak of box tree moth.
And yes, we are bagging those boxwood branches in plastic and sending them straight to the trash. Not the compost bin. Not the brush pile. The trash. If you missed Mil’s explanation of why that matters, go back and watch yesterday’s reel.
We love the look of these Ilex. Clean, hardy, and built for southeast Michigan. This is exactly the kind of swap that makes a garden bed better for years to come.
Has box tree moth hit your boxwood? We would love to help you think through what comes next.
