If you were wondering how we set our utility poles, we utilize an excavator with an auger to dig our holes. We use the excavator to set the poles as well.. most of the poles that we set are remote and it’s sometimes difficult to get a truck to them and we find it beneficial to use the excavator.

Installation of 400 amp underground electrical service upgrade on customer owned pedestal. Pictures also show installation of a second 200amp automatic Kohler generator transfer switch which is going to power the new addition that we are currently wiring, the existing (crooked) conduit under the transfer switch could not be corrected due to the existing underground wiring could not be removed to heat and rebend the conduit without removing the generator, the wiring for the generator comes in through the bottom of the generator, so we had to unfortunately leave the crooked conduit as it. The pedestal had to be installed to utilize the existing 3 inch underground conduit, which was inaccessible due to concrete covering it, we parallel 3/0 copper thhn for the feeds and neutrals and installed parallel #4 thhn copper for the sub feed grounds. With such a tight work space on the house we had to utilize a trough to intercept and parallel the generator feed wires and doing so we still had to meet code with the means of disconnects on the pedestal. The surge arresters were located in each of the outdoor rated 200 amp disconnects on the customer owned pedestal. It was approximately 160 foot of underground from the pedestal to the house. Penn power was on site to denergize the service and pull new feeders from their pole to our pedestal approx 20’ in the new installed underground 4 inch PVC conduit.

Installation of 10kw Generac Generator with 100amp automatic transfer switch, 100amp panel was also upgraded the same day. The logistics of this house were a little more difficult due to 3/4 of the home is on a slab. The generator was placed within 20 feet of the gas meter and the transfer switch was approximately 120 feet around the house on the opposite side from the gas meter.
