I promised each of my children that I would give them more grown-up rooms as they entered high school. This one, inspired by my middle daughter’s romantic Pinterest board, took far longer than it should have. I promised each of my children that as they move from middle school to high school, I would give them a fresh, more grown-up bedroom. My middle daughter sent me her Pinterest page (yes, she really did) filled with dreamy colors and soft accents. Since we couldn’t find exactly what we wanted to hang above her tall dresser, we made this to inspire us for the rest of the room. Stay tuned!

Not satisfied with the pool float organizers out there? Make your own! I had a spare length of the pool fencing lying around (literally) and had the idea to turn it into a pool float holder. Using the extra fence addressed a number of issues: 1. I wouldn’t have to buy a pool float holder. Hey— I prefer the word “thrifty.” 2. The extra length of fence wouldn’t go into a landfill. 3. It was already unintentionally designed to hold noodles at the top! 4. It matches the surrounding fence making it nearly disappear. So, I enlisted my father-in-law (who is as handy as all get out) and he was kind enough to make suggestions to improve my idea, then cut it up and constructed it with his own two capable hands. I touched it up with a little spray paint and viola—pool float and noodle storage!

Who says you have to hang a chandelier as directed? It’s just so much more fun when we turn a corner…
