Deadman's Island Restoration Project

Deadman's Island Restoration Project Deadman's Island is a beautiful and historic gem which has suffered erosion since 1940's. It was once a ship's careenage area and yellow fever quarantine.

Given to the City of Gulf Breeze by the Coe and Gilmore estate years ago. The Deadman's Island restoration project protects a unique coastal ecosystem and historic resources using grant funding and community based support. Heather Reed of Ecological Consulting Services is the Project Manager who obtained over 2.5 million dollars (not including match) in Federal Grants since 2005. ECS is currently working with the City to obtain FEMA funding to restore Hurricane Sally damage.
