🌺 Hibiscus Pest Prevention Tip (Gudhal)

Hibiscus plants are very prone to pest attacks, especially when buds start forming.

This is a simple DIY to prevent pests and help your plant bloom properly 🌿

What you need:
• 2 small plastic containers with lids
• Camphor (kapoor) – 4 to 5 pieces
• A thin wire

Steps:
• Make 2 small holes on the plastic lid (side by side)
• Add 4–5 camphor pieces inside
• Close the lid
• Pass a wire through the holes
• Hang it on the plant stem

Place one container on each side of the plant.

The smell of camphor helps keep pests away, especially during the bud stage 🌸

🌿 Can you use this for other plants?

Yes, you can use this method for other plants like:
• Roses
• Curry leaf
• Jasmine
• Vegetable plants

It works as a general prevention method to keep small insects away.

⚠️ Important:

This is for prevention, not cure.
If your plant already has heavy pest attack, use neem oil spray first.

Tip: Replace camphor every 7–10 days 🌿

Hello Chicago😊
Just a quick reminder for everyone with curry leaf and other tropical plants outside. In our area, it’s safest to bring them in by September 30. You might get away with the first few days of October if nights stay mild, but after that there’s a real risk of frost.

Before you move your pots indoors, here are a few steps that make a big difference:
1. Spray the leaves, stems, and top of the soil with neem oil. Wipe down the outside of the pot as well.
2. Check the little groove under the rim of the pot where you lift it. Bugs often hide there, so make sure it’s cleaned out.
3. Sprinkle a light layer of diatomaceous earth powder on top of the soil. Keep the soil dry afterwards so the powder stays effective. I’ll share the link I use.
4. Once your plants are indoors for winter, keep a humidifier nearby. Curry leaf plants really need the extra humidity when the air inside gets dry. I’ll also share the humidifier link.
5. If possible, start acclimating by bringing them in at night and back out during the day for a week before moving them in full-time.

Mark your calendar: September 30 is the date to bring your tropical plants inside. A little preparation now will save you a lot of trouble later.

And one last thing—if you read this, please don’t forget to drop me a quick thumbs up. sometimes it feels a little quiet on my end when I share updates. Just seeing your thumbs up lets me know people are reading, and it means a lot.

Warning About Mystery Seeds 🚨

Friends, I want to share something important for everyone’s safety.

Today, I received a packet of seeds in the mail that I did not order. The package came with a U.S. return address:

📦 Ledenia Cordon
15 Grumman Rd W
Bethpage, NY 11714

Inside were small brown seeds in a plastic pouch, along with a flyer claiming to be from a company called Aokeeze. The flyer had a QR code that links to a WhatsApp number with a +86 country code (China).

👉 Why this is concerning:
• The USDA has warned about “mystery seeds” being mailed from overseas.
• These seeds may be part of a “brushing scam,” where sellers send random cheap items to boost fake reviews.
• Unknown seeds can carry pests, plant diseases, or invasive species that could harm our gardens and local environment.

⚠️ Please do NOT open, plant, or throw these seeds in the yard/compost.
If you receive something similar:
1. Do not plant them.
2. Keep the packaging and seeds sealed.
3. Report to USDA APHIS (they track these cases).
4. If you choose not to report, dispose safely in the trash (sealed in a bag).

I’m sharing pictures below of what I received so you know what to watch out for. Please spread the word in your own networks so nobody unknowingly plants these. 🌱

Stay safe

I still can’t believe I’m saying this… but I wrote a book! 🥹

It’s called Curry Leaf Whisperer, and it’s filled with everything I’ve learned over the years about caring for this beautiful plant — from soil and sun to pruning and pests.

Anyone who knows me knows how much I love plants — all of them! 💚 But curry leaf has a special place in my heart, and this book is really a piece of that love.

If you do read it, I’d be so grateful to hear what you think. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts!

🌿 PAAN PLANT CARE – INDOOR WINTER GUIDE 🌿
For those keeping their paan plant indoors year-round

🪟 ☀️ Sunlight:
Keep your plant by a south-facing window for gentle morning sun (2–4 hours daily). Avoid harsh direct light in the afternoon.

💧 💦 Watering:
• Don’t overwater. Let the top layer of soil dry before watering again.
• Use a pot with good drainage to prevent root rot.

🌱 🌿 Fertilizer – Only Cow Manure:
I use only natural cow manure — safe, organic, and ideal for indoor plants.
✅ Works great all winter. No other fertilizer used!

🛒 Where to Get It:
• Home Depot / Lowe’s
• Or order online: https://amzn.to/41eraZo

🪴 Pot & Soil:
• Use a well-draining pot (8–12 inch size is ideal)
• Light mix of potting soil + compost or coco coir
• Avoid dense, water-retaining soil

💨 🌫️ Humidifier Use (Winter Tip):
I run a humidifier near the plant in winter to keep humidity levels up — especially when indoor heating makes the air too dry. It helps prevent leaf curl and keeps growth healthy.

🌿 Extra Care:
• Keep away from AC or heater vents
• Mist occasionally for extra humidity
• Add a small support stick or trellis as it grows
