Time to adjust the lawn mower blade as high as it will go in time for the hot summer days. Keeping grass blades about 3 inches tall when cut will slow a lawn that may go dormant in the hot summer weather without regular sprinkler applications.

Blooming now: Just think if you had planted these last year, you would already have some color in your garden. P***y willows, winter jasmine, crocus, daffodils, some variety of witch hazel and fruit trees with flowers (apricot trees).

Spring Cleaning: Time for a spring clean-up, the process of removing winter debris like leaves, sticks, acorns, pine needles and pine cones.

De-thatching the lawn will enable it to accept more nutrients and become healthier.

Fertilizing: Spring is a great time to apply fertilizer with a slow-release nitrogen and pre-emergent herbicide to keep your lawn green during the spring and also prevent the growth of set in, unwanted w**ds.

Mulching plant beds and tree rings: keep moisture in the soil root zone to keep plants healthy and also prevent w**d from growing. Be careful not to put mulch up and around tree trunk.

Donald worked for Affordable Landscaping for nearly 10 years. He lost his life on November 29th due to injuries suffered in a car accident. Please consider supporting us in remembering Donald in the 2012 AIDS Walk, a charity event that he participated in every year since 1996.
