Sacred Space Landscapes is a continued evolution of a 40 year journey in landscaping, spirituality and healing. Originally starting out in 1985, as an employee of a local landscape company in Boulder, Colorado, Peter Quandt learned how to set boulders in such a way as to appear “naturally occurring”. In the next year, Peter learned about the availability of and placement of various plants in the u
rban and mountain landscapes, in particular working with native plants. Four more years of honing his design and installation skills and then opening his own business, Tree and Landscape Specialties. The name of the new enterprise was derived from the recognition that Peter had of his spiritual affinity with Trees, and that while other companies could do the more specialized rock work, Peter had a natural ability to work with the very elements of these materials with quality and care. Later, the company name was simplified to TLS Landscapes, LLC, though retaining all of the quality conscious and mindful landscaping style of someone bound to present the natural appeal and connection of the residential landscape to the surrounding environment. Peter’s basic concept of residential landscaping is to install the Boulders in such a way as to appear “naturally occurring”. Bring the soils and grade in around these settings in the way that Nature would create by wind and weather, over time. Install the Plants in such a way as they appear to have (again naturally) seeded themselves in amongst the nooks and crannies, adding water features that appear as much as possible as a native stream or spring. The end result is to create a landscape which appears as though, “somewhere along the line, someone inserted a house in there”. Upon leaving Colorado, TLS evolved into Quandt’s Landscapes, with Peter as a sole operator and installer. Adding to the mix the aspects of the southwest (New Mexico), the northwest (Oregon) and the southeast (South Carolina), Peter has learned to work with plants and stone indigenous to the areas served, as well as bringing in some “exotics” for individual accents. Still keeping with the natural and mindful approach to residential landscaping, Sacred Space Landscapes is offering the opportunity for the individual landscape to include a private, spiritual and sacred space for contemplation, spiritual healing and meditation. Now living in Upstate New York, Peter brings these landscape creations to the northeast, while still being called to New Mexico, Oregon and Colorado for his expertise and Love.
