This painting, Wild Lillies, has been in and out of shows since 2012. I had so much fun making this, from hand stretching the canvas (2 feet wide by 4 feet tall!), to experimenting with spray bottles and painting directly on the wet gesso layer. I love it so much!!! It’s one of those artworks that feels very closely tied to a time in your life, or a sense of who you were then. Yesterday, a client bought this painting, marking my first sale of a large-scale artwork! Wild Lilies was part of a 3-part Series. The third painting, of a sunflower, was given as a gift to a very special family in my life. The first part, Blue Columbine, remains in my collection.

My Hager House painting is finished! The submission deadline is today - hopefully we’ll see this on display at the Hager House/Museum of Fine Arts

I’m working on this one at home now, and I decided to take a risk with the details on this house. I’m using black and white pens to fill in some of the details, outline, and embellish some of the stones. This piece still has a long way to go, and the deadline is this weekend!

I went to the Hager House in City Park for a Plein Air Painting event on Saturday. Here’s a quick snapshot of the painting I stated that day. I’m still working on it and trying out some new techniques to really bring this house to life.
