Giving back to the communities we serve is an important part of who we are.

The Sunbelt Asphalt team recently partnered with Camp Twin Lakes in Winder, Georgia, to improve a roadway throughout the camp's 100-acre property within Fort Yargo State Park. The road had become worn and deteriorated, and our team was proud to help provide a smoother, safer surface for campers, staff, and families.

Camp Twin Lakes is a nonprofit organization that creates life-changing camp experiences for children with disabilities, serious illnesses, and other life challenges. We are grateful for the opportunity to support their mission and the incredible impact they make on families across Georgia.

The Scruggs Company was proud to host the Heavy Equipment Capstone for Lowndes High School at our 37 Yard in Adel.

Sixteen students put their skills to the test in trenching and backfilling, bench loading, and tire stacking as part of their final assessment for the heavy equipment class. We are excited to share that every student passed their capstone and successfully completed each area of competition.

It was a great day of hands-on learning, hard work, and seeing the next generation of equipment operators in action.

A special thank you to Yancey and Tractor & Equipment Company for bringing brand-new excavators and supporting these students throughout the capstone.

Eddie Allen celebrates 55 years of service, but that’s only part of the story.

Born in 1950, Eddie grew up between Pittsview and Seale, Alabama, as the son of a farmer. As a young man, he told his father, “I ain’t plowing with that mule no more. I’m going to get me a job.”

That decision led him to McMath Construction in Columbus, Georgia, where he worked for a man everyone called Peewee. Over the years, Eddie followed Peewee to Brady Williamson Contractors and eventually to Robinson Paving Company.

For many years, Eddie served as foreman of one of the concrete crews. Jackie and Darrell Robinson, who both went on to become President of Robinson Paving Company, started their careers working alongside him.

Known by many as Mr. Eddie, he has always been dedicated, loyal and dependable. He first retired at age 65, but it did not take long before he decided to come back to work. This time, he helped around the shop, made deliveries and pick-ups, and did whatever was needed.

After continuing to serve the company until age 75, Eddie officially retired in December 2025.

These days, Eddie is enjoying a slower pace, volunteering at his church, riding his bicycle and spending time with family.

From all of us at Robinson Paving Company and The Scruggs Company, thank you, Eddie, for 55 years of service, hard work and friendship. Your impact will always be part of our story.

The next generation got a closer look at construction in action.

Through Georgia’s HEO Program, Lowndes High’s Heavy Equipment class visited our Shiloh Road construction site to learn more about the project and see what goes into the work happening on site.

Students also had the chance to get hands-on practice with a mini excavator, giving them a real look at the equipment and skills used in the field.

Thank you to Lowndes High, Georgia’s HEO Program, and our team for helping make this a great learning experience for these students.

Derek Dooley, a Georgia U.S. Senate candidate, recently visited our Lenox Asphalt Plant to get a firsthand look at how asphalt manufacturing works.

During the tour, our team walked through the process, equipment, and coordination it takes to produce quality asphalt and support infrastructure across our communities.

We appreciate the opportunity to share what our teams do every day and thank our Lenox crew for representing The Scruggs Company so well.
