A throwback to our Spanish Mission Living project

The homeowners asked KCRH to redesign their landscape to fit their family lifestyle as well as for entertaining group and student events. We worked closely with the interior designer and architect to create a seamless outdoor and indoor relationship throughout their historical Spanish Mission home. The design incorporated an outdoor kitchen and pizza oven beneath a wood arbor structure equipped with recessed lighting, sleek heaters, and retractable cloth fabric. The working vegetable garden was strategically located adjacent to the seed lab so they could have year round access. At the far end of the pool sits the fireplace which is a focal point and extends the use of the yard into the evening.

The goal for this space was to create a natural extension of the home—a place where the transition from a swim in the pool to hosting dinner under the pavilion feels effortless.
Located in Saratoga, this design focuses on balance. We paired the clean lines of the custom structure with a fully equipped outdoor kitchen and lounge, ensuring the space remains functional year-round without losing its connection to the surrounding landscape. It’s about creating a quiet corner for a morning coffee or a central hub for a weekend gathering.
A few favorite details:
The seamless flow between the pool deck and the shaded seating.
The placement of the outdoor media wall for optimal viewing without competing with the view.
Custom stonework and finishes that lean into the local aesthetic.
It was a pleasure seeing this vision come to life.

For this , we’re looking back at MacDutra Plaza in historic downtown Half Moon Bay! It was built a decade ago!

This project was a true community effort—we were honored to give back by donating our conceptual and final design fees for this city-owned park. Nearly 40% of the costs were covered by grassroots support from the HMB Beautification Committee, the Parks and Recreation Foundation, and generous private donors.

KCRH has called HMB home for over 40 years, and we love seeing this space thrive in the heart of our community!

First Congregation Church of Palo Alto Courtyard renovation project has been completed.

Formerly an underutilized space, the new design transforms the area into a vibrant, central campus hub for the community.

KCRH worked closely with church committee members in a collaborative design process to create an inspiring, comfortable, and versatile space suitable for a variety of events, including worship services, weddings, music events, meetings, and social gatherings.

Sustainability was a core focus of the project, incorporating several environmentally conscious practices including pervious pavers, repurposed materials, and low impact design. The key design features include a central stage with arbor, shade canopy, granite fountain, custom built-in seating, and wood fence with repurposed wood slats.

We are thrilled with the outcome and excited for the community to enjoy their outdoor space!
