Confession: I wasn’t all that impressed with my ranunculus this year 🫣

They’re beautiful… but they are NOT low-maintenance flowers. Between the constant babysitting, weather protection, watering, and just general fussing, they required a lot more attention than I expected. Who has time for that?!

And if I’m being completely honest, the return didn’t quite match the effort this season.

Today I dug them up, washed them and have them drying, before tucking the corms away into storage.

The bed got a fresh layer of compost and is already moving on to the next crops.

Will I try growing ranunculus again next year?

Yes. Against my better judgment… but only because I have another bed about to bloom and of course they look absolutely beautiful. And also because I already bought new colors for next season 🤦🏼‍♀️🌸

💐 This past weekend was senior prom at the school where I teach, and it made creating these bouquets even more special 🥹

Many of the bouquets I designed were for current students, neighbors, and the children of colleagues and friends. There was something incredibly special about knowing exactly who would be carrying these flowers and helping them celebrate such an important milestone.

I feel so grateful for the trust these families placed in me and I feel honored to have played a small part in making their day a little more beautiful ✨

Here are just SOME of the dahlia varieties I’ll have available at my tuber sale tomorrow at Hayner’s Ice cream in Halfmoon from 4–6pm!

Whether you’ve grown dahlias for years or this is your very first one, I promise they are not as intimidating as they seem 😂 Every purchase comes with a planting guide, and I’m always just a message away if you have questions. I genuinely want you to succeed and fall in love with growing them as much as I have.
