It’s time for me to retire. I’m 68 years old, my feet hurt, and my baby daughter (age 32) had a baby daughter in June. She and her husband want a large family and want me near them.

Green Haven has been a fun, frustrating, fatiguing, and fascinating adventure. I love my staff, colleagues in the industry, customers, and of course the plants.

None of that can compete with the little girl who was born June 4th, so now the search is on for someone to take the next step here at Green Haven and for me to find a new home near Annalee.

I will continue to do Garden Coaching, special orders, and landscaping projects, but the garden center will not be open for retail business in the spring.

To humans, a deciduous Tree’s leaves mean shade in summer and pretty colors in the fall as the tree leaves change color. To the Tree, they mean survival.

In fall, your Katsura tree will light up the block when its green foliage turns a luminous yellow—maybe even taking on apricot tones. As the leaves fall, they give off a delicious fragrance of cotton candy. You’ll laugh as passersby stop in their tracks and look around for the source of the sweet scent!
