This garage door had really taken a beating from the sun faded, chalky, and showing its age. I started with a deep cleaning to strip away the chalky film, going through multiple cleaning cycles to make sure the surface was ready.
The color had faded over time, so I matched it exactly to the existing door for a seamless look. (In the picture, the left side shows the fresh paint and the right side shows the original faded finish, big difference already.)
I’ve still got the rest of the garage door to finish, but I wanted to stop and show the process. For the finish, I’m using PPG Sun Proof, a 100% acrylic exterior paint designed to handle tough UV exposure. This side of the house gets the most direct sun, so using a product with fade and chalk resistance was the right call.
Once it’s all complete, the whole door will look fresh, durable, and protected for the long run.
