Cultivating Thyme

Cultivating Thyme Local Seedling Sales and Garden Coaching Welcome to my page and my new business! My goal is to empower you to become a confident gardener.

I love gardening and sharing that love with others, which I have been doing for the past 20 years. Like many of you, I started out with very minimal gardening experience, but I wanted to learn about growing things. Midway through college, I decided to add an Associate's Degree in Agriculture to my education. Part of that degree involved an internship on a sustainable CSA farm, where I fell in love

with the hard, but good work of cultivating a garden. From there, I've had many opportunities to hone my gardening skills through community gardens, container gardens, school gardens, and backyard gardens in USDA Hardiness Zones 5a-8a. Think of me as a guide, rather than an all knowing expert. If you are just beginning your gardening journey, if have tried to garden and failed in the past, or just need some gardening advice, let me be your garden coach. I would love to take this journey with you.

It’s been a rough start for Cultivating Thyme this season. Sunday was a really hard day. What a difference just half an hour can make. The winds were incredibly strong at One of my tables completely flipped over and I lost almost all of my herbs. To the two customers who stopped and helped me take down my tent: Thank You! To the two customers who noticed that my other tables were about to be taken by the wind and held them down: Thank you! To my fellow vendors who offered support, condolences, and help: Thank you!
I am truly grateful to all of you.
I spent yesterday and part of today trying to save plants. I think several of the remaining plants might make it, but it’s already obvious that some won’t. I’m going to keep babying them for a bit and see what happens. Here’s to hoping!

Dear followers, this is not really the post that I wanted to be for the beginning of this marketing season. As many of you know, I don’t have a greenhouse. All of my plants are started in my house with limited space & then moved outside to harden off. I went out to check the damage on my plants from the latest cold snap. I lost a LOT. Will I still have plants for market this weekend? Yes. Is it as much as I had hoped or planned? Nope. Even with protection, sometimes we lose plants. It’s part of working with nature. I have more plants coming to replace the ones I lost, but I’m definitely still disappointed. At the same time, I’m excited about this season! I’ll have some new plant varieties that I didn’t offer last season, and some new hand crafted items. Also, coming soon this season: mini terrariums! Looking forward, not backwards! Hope to see you soon. Happy planting!
