Monday…the second job completed!!

Just an update of real things happening…places in the WNC are going into their 5 week with no power. A lot of secondary roads are still only accessible by 4x4. Military presence is there. I’ve seen them passing out supplies at camps. I’ve not seen or heard any helicopters this week. The rivers are definitely contaminated. With what I have no idea. But you can see the green and red films in there. FEMA are making rounds to people houses and doing assessments of property. Some people have got money but most have not. I have more questions than answers myself. People are being fed and have supplies taking to them daily. The elderly people who don’t have four wheel drive and can’t get out of their driveways just love for us to come and visit if nothing else! I think that’s been the highlight of my week! I have met some of the sweetest people! We as humans are not bred to be isolated from each other day in and day out! Our soul require good conversation and laughter! There are still so many people showing up to work! The construction I’ve seen going on is all volunteer work! It’s all amazing, even with so much destruction around, the love and faith up there in them hills is a beautiful thing to be a part of! I’ll be back at it tomorrow!

My heart is so heavy today after my trip to the mountains yesterday! Please say an extra prayer for me today!!

There truly are no words for the devastation across the mountain community. As I sit here and reflect everything that I have seen and done over the past seven days, the miles I drove and time away from my normal life I am very humbled. Until you see the damage done by the power of the river and mud slides there is no way for me to describe it and you get the full understanding. I have learned so much this week. One thing, the mountain people are so simple and easy going. It takes a special breed to live up in them hills day in and day out! Most of them don’t require a whole lot to get by. They are all so very thankful for us and what supplies we had to share. And yes there are some in total need of everything and we are so happy we can help them. I have been somewhere different everyday and one thing I notice is, there is no race, there is no gender identity crap, it’s all hands on deck! It’s all walks of life showing up to help our neighbors from such a horrible tragedy that they truly were not prepared for! And if the news would stay turned off, it would stay that way! There would be no division between us. There would only be one race, the human race, with the blood of an American fighting together to survive! There are so many stories, of success and survival, but then there are story of loss and pain. But the biggest story to me… “We The People” showed up! We are the boots on the ground. The government is not going to come save us! I know that now more than ever! And in a couple weeks when they are forgotten and they have no power still and roads are still not accessible, “We The People” will continue to Rise Up and show up for our people! May God Bless everyone in the hills! May God Bless everyone with boots on the ground!
