There are some projects that end up meaning a little more than just the work itself.

Last November, Cody reached out about getting permanent lights installed on his home. We had every intention of getting him on the schedule before Christmas, but between being completely booked and Indiana deciding to do Indiana things with the weather, it just wasn't in the cards.

The good news? The lights finally happened, and I have to say, they were worth the wait.

The better news?

Somewhere between talking about lights, estimates, schedules, and life, we got to know a little more about Cody's family and their daughter Charlie.

Charlie is one tough little girl who has been through more than any child should have to face. Because of the care and support their family received from Cincinnati Children's Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House, they're now turning around and trying to help other families walking similar roads through the Seizing Hope for Charlie fundraiser.

When Cody asked if we'd be willing to donate something to the auction, there wasn't much to think about.
We donated a $500 certificate toward a Govee Pro Permanent Lighting installation and a $750 Exterior Cleaning Package because if we can help a family help other families, that's a pretty easy yes.
So while I'd absolutely love for you to check out these photos because Sean knocked this installation out of the park, what I'd love even more is for you to take a minute and support the fundraiser.

Men account for nearly 80% of all su***de deaths in the United States.

Let that sink in.

When we saw Rachel's post earlier today, we knew we wanted to share it.

For those who have followed her since we installed her permanent lights, you know she loves finding reasons to light up her home and share it with pride. Holidays, special occasions, causes close to her heart. This month, those lights are glowing blue and green in honor of Men's Mental Health Awareness Month and in memory of her little brother, Ethan.

Her message hit close to home.

A few years ago, we lost a friend of our own. Out of respect for his family, we'll simply call him JC.

The thing that still sticks with us is that we had no idea how much he was struggling.

He was the loud one. The funny one. The guy whose personality filled every room he walked into. The guy who could make everyone laugh. The guy you'd never suspect was carrying the weight he was carrying.

Looking back, there were signs.

Not big signs.

Small ones.

The kind that are easy to brush off. Easy to explain away. Easy to miss.

And when he finally did reach out in his own way, we missed that too.

Now there's a space where that big personality used to be. Friends who miss him. Family who miss him. Three children growing up without their dad. Countless memories that should still be being made.

Mental health doesn't always look like what people expect.

Sometimes it's hidden behind a smile.
Sometimes it's hidden behind a joke.
Sometimes it's hidden behind the person everyone else leans on.

So today we're sharing Rachel's post because the message matters.

If you've been wondering where we've been lately...

We've been a little busy turning "this might be a problem" into "now THAT'S a deck."

This rooftop deck was one of those projects that kept things interesting from start to finish. Permits, inspections, engineering, structural repairs, new framing, new decking, new railing, and plenty of problem solving along the way.

What made this project especially fun was that it was one of our first collaborations with JS & Son's. With their guidance and leadership throughout the process, everything came together exactly as it should have. It's always a great feeling working alongside people who take just as much pride in doing things correctly as we do.

The truth is, we've been so busy working that we've been slacking on showing the work. While we've been a little quiet online, we've been putting in the hours behind the scenes making sure projects are completed the right way, not the easy way.

We're incredibly proud of how this one turned out.

Thank you to our customers for continuing to trust our family-owned business, and thank you to our partners who help make projects like this possible.

Well… the weather app just turned that color that makes Midwesterners go stand on the porch and squint at the sky.

If the wind starts doing its best “Wizard of Oz audition” tonight and:
