I have only just recently been following Blake and his crew around and adding eavestroughs to their work, but what I have seen has been nothing short of impressive! The attention to detail these guys show is what sets the good apart from the great, and these guys are definitely great! A majority of my work is done after someone does work to the exterior of their home, be it new siding, a new roof, etc. With that, I get to see a lot of different work first hand and am often very disappointed in what I see. Simple steps being skipped, fasteners out of place, gaps for water and animals to enter the home, the list goes on.

It’s easy to call a few different companies to get quotes and just go with the cheapest option assuming you’re getting the same end product no matter what you spend but I can promise that is definitely not the case. And in something as serious as the exterior of your home, is that really a place you should skimp on quality just to save a few bucks?

This was a home I was called to and asked to install gutters on and was shocked at what I found. This homeowner unfortunately had just recently purchased this house with this work already done and I had to be the one to show them what their roof looked like. There was literally birds living in one corner under the new roof in a hole into the house where gaps had been left under the roof giving them plenty of room to move in and make the space their own. And the steel roof was installed over at least 4 other layers of shingles and shakes, adding totally unnecessary weight for the home to have to support, adding stress to the structural integrity of the home.

There are plenty of contractors around that I have followed that have proven time and time again that they truly care and have pride in their work and treat the house as if it was their own and do high quality work, and over the next couple of days I will highlight a few of them to maybe make it a little easier for people to narrow down their search in finding a trustworthy contractor to trust the next time they may need some work done.

A fun Friday along the river! Erb Custom Construction has done a lot of work, both interior and exterior, to give this cabin a new look. This cabin still has some work to be done including raising it another 16” and adding another addition off the side, but it’s well on its way to be a one of a kind getaway! Glad to be a part of it!

“What am I paying for?” That’s a question I’ve been getting more this year than ever before.

Gutter systems aren’t something that most people know a whole lot about. There’s different gauges of aluminum, different sizes of downspout, different types of hangers.. the list goes on.

With me, you are only getting the highest quality materials available! I use the thickest aluminum, .032”, which is harder to cut but thicker and stronger than the alternative, .027”. Especially in our midwest winters, the thicker aluminum stands up to much more of a snow load. They are seamless so whatever color you choose I roll out the exact length so there’s no ugly seams in the middle for potential leaks.

I also use some of the strongest hangers and screws possible. The hanger and screw combo varies from job to job, mostly dependent on the fascia. And I color match the downspouts, which are 3”x 4” and much bigger than the old standard of 2”x3”. That allows a higher volume of water to drain out much faster.

This week I was able to help the Veterans Memorial Hospital with their ambulance building. They had water dripping off in front of their doors, creating ice and a dangerous situation for the ambulance drivers.

I actually had to tear down my equipment and move everything so the medflight helicopter could land and fly out a patient and it put some things into perspective. It was amazing watching everybody work with such precision and professionalism to get the patient in the air as soon as possible. We absolutely do not give health care and medical workers enough credit.

That being said, for the month of February I am going to offer a 15% discount on seamless gutter installation for healthcare workers, medical professionals, and first responders.

Now is the best time to lock in with me before spring and all the rain that comes with it, let’s keep that moisture out of your basement and away from your foundation!
