My name is Kate and I am the gardener behind the produce. Originally from Canada, I love living in rural Oklahoma with my husband. The growing season is incredible here, and I try to take advantage of it as best I can to provide locally grown produce to the community. I grow all my produce in my backyard, but my husband and I are saving for some land to build our homestead. Follow along for the gardening adventures and farmers market updates!

🍅 Good afternoon! 🍅

I’ve got lots of big tomatoes finally getting close to ripening! It’s been a struggle with all the bugs and heat so far this year, but the plants are pushing through. Hopefully soon they’ll catch up with the peppers and I’ll have hods full of them!

Another awesome harvest this morning! 🍅🌶️🫑🥒🫘

We haven’t had rain now for a couple weeks here but the garden is making it through with some extra water going through the irrigation systems. I’ve even had to actually water the lawn to prevent everything from burning to a crisp and leaving us with a desert plain. Thank goodness we have a well!

🌸 Got some wild passionflower growing great in the garden this year!

I have seeds for purple passionflower but these popped up before I even thought about using them. This white color is so pretty! I’m hoping I get some fruit off the vines to try this summer 🤞🏻

🫙🥒🌶️🍑 Lots of processing of produce happened yesterday and the day before!

My pickling cucumbers, jalepeños, banana peppers, Pepperocini peppers, have been especially busy so far this season. Pickling them is my favorite way to make them last, even if it takes lots of time. A friend also gave me a load of peaches from so I got to can those as well! I will never say no to produce, and these will be some good eats 😍

🍅Happy Tomato Tuesday! 🍅

My tomatoes are finally starting to change color for me!! I’ve been starting at my cherry tomato vines for weeks now and today they really started showing off. None of my slicer or paste tomatoes are quite there yet, but they’re growing nice and big in the meantime. With all the cucumbers and beans fruiting like crazy, I’ll have plenty of garden snacks while I’m out working!

Happy Father’s Day!

It has coincided with my first harvest of the season! I’ve had a pepper here and a cucumber there ready to pick one at a time, but the produce is really starting to come now. It’s time for me to get my game face on and start using and preserving this food in earnest.

🦋 Spotted my first monarch on the property!

Last year we didn’t have nearly the quantity of big flowers that we do this year, and the butterflies are taking notice of the new digs! I planted a ton of milkweed in the front beds, so the monarchs will also have places to lay their eggs after they enjoy all the other flowers. Pretty soon this place will be a pollinator paradise everywhere you look and the butterflies and bees will always want to stop through here!

Fruit has set!! 🎉🙌🏻

I’ve been watching all these cucumbers like a hawk and all the pollinating has paid off! I’ve got half a dozen baby cukes that are growing so far, and the plants are looking soooo healthy this year 🥰

🌸 Good afternoon!

I am so pleased with the dahlias I’ve been able to grow this year! Most of the ones I planted are from tubers and are still working on establishing healthy leaves. These ones however, I grew from seed and am amazed by how quickly they’ve taken off! This was my first time growing them this way and it definitely won’t be the last. Thank you very much for the seeds and recommendation to try growing dahlias this way 💚

🌶️🫑 Good afternoon!

The peppers have all been doing so well this year! Keeping up with the 40 plants I decided to grow has been a task, but they’re benefitting from the attention. Hopefully in a week or two I’ll be able to start harvesting them and enjoying all the different varieties!

In order from left to right, shown in the pictures are sugar rush peach, black Hungarian, Pepperocini, cayenne, golden California bell, sweet banana, jalapeño, and Leutschauer paprika. There are lots more not pictured, these were just the prettiest ones I spotted this morning ☺️

🎈The balloon flowers are blooming!

I got these pretty perennials last year from and was so happy to see them come back strong this spring. I’m slowly adding more and more flowers to the front garden beds in hopes that with enough perennials, I won’t have to do much for them in a year or so. It has been working out well!

🥒 The first cuke of the year is here!

I’m very very excited to be able to actually grow healthy cucumber plants this year up my cattle panel tunnel. Last year was such a rush that I didn’t manage the pests nearly as well as I should have, and the few cucumber plants I tried to grow paid the price for it. I’m hoping this year I’ll have enough to make lots of pickles, tzatziki sauce, and eat fresh in all kinds of ways 🍴
