I may need to edit/shorten this video - but cool experience watching very large beetle planting her legacy in the gatden!

May apples in bloom, bleeding hearts, phlox, and so many other beauties coming to life! Patience makes for progress I suppose.

Nothing about 2020 seems easy or normal - and certainly not spring like, thus far...Despite the negative grays, I thought I’d share a bit of beauty & bloom from Maddie & Bella’s Gardens. Forecast sounds like we’ll be covering things up this weekend. But until then - things are beginning to pop! Love, joy & happiest health to all. Kelly Meinhart Donaldson

Spring has sprung, bluebirds are singing, woodpeckers are busily knocking away, and Maddie’s garden is waking up. Not a lot of color yet, but it won’t take long. Chickadees love the star magnolia seed and forsythia blooms just in time for Maddie, as we lost her 4years ago this week. Thanks to Krista Giersch Maddigan and Mike Maddigan for the treasure. And to DougandAnna Bair for being bluebird stewards! Joy, peace, and love to all on this beautiful sunny day.

Juncos (snow birds) showed up yesterday, followed by sleet this morning - its official - time for the garden (and me?) to hibernate! Thanks to Melanie and Kim, PHS Gardening Contest and PHS : Pennsylvania Horticultural Society for a spring & summer that pushed me forward! If you've not yet read the full "About Maddie's Garden" (page-long w/ photos), please do.. There are next steps to this effort that I hope to roll-out in 2020, all based on the about story.
More to come. Happy hibernating!

Note: update of former post

Garden of Distinction award! Earlier this summer I entered the PA Horticultural Society’s (PHS) garden contest for the educational opportunities. It is a thrill to share that Maddie's Garden has been recognized with the “Garden of Distinction” award!
Tremendous gratitude to Melanie Markowski and Kim Slezak, PHS judges, for visiting & sharing their gardening wisdom & really validating my efforts for pollinators & wildlife! And a huge “Thanks!” to everyone who has supported Maddie’s Garden & encouraged the effort. I hope to attend the Wednesday night award/garden event in Philly. It is one sweet world!

P.s., apologies for re-post - it seems like my original post of the award news was stuck in FB & while some were able to see it - it didn’t go out to all. So I’m starting over. Thanx to those who had already commented. Kelly Meinhart Donaldson

This beauty caught me off guard today! Araneus marmoreus, marbled orb weaver. Startled me during garden clean up (back to digging out poison & other invasives). She went her way & I went mine - all good. But definitely defends my ‘always wear gloves’ in the garden rule
