Roses are red, violets are blue. I never wanted to break up with you…but here we are. While we will not be reopening for the 2026 season, I wanted to take a moment to share some love with you this weekend.
I am beyond grateful for the support of the amazing staff who made things happen, & for every customer who chose to shop with us. It’s been an honor getting to know you & grow with you.
While I am sad that this is the end of our journey at this location, it was an unfortunate & necessary step that had to be taken. It has been an abundant time of growth in all aspects of life, though. I’ve learned more than I could have ever predicted. For now, I would like to leave you with some knowledge, and *the* secret you need to become the grower & gardener you aspire to be.
Anyone can be a grower, yes—even you. It’s not as complex as some people like to think it is. It’s really quite simple. Let me explain.
To begin growing, choose a spot that is free of toxicity. It will be much easier if you start in a healthy environment. It’s tricky to remove the toxins from contaminated soil, no matter how hard you try. Plus, those toxins will just end up contaminating your healthy stuff, and will spread to places you never intended it to before you realize it.
Keep an open mind & give grace to all living creatures nearby. Some may appear unfriendly, yet hold tremendous value. Almost all insects are your friends, so don’t squish them just because you are afraid. If you do that, you will lose some of your greatest allies, and your garden will be mid. Just the facts.
But also, learn how to recognize a parasite *quickly* before it destroys your work. For example, if you encounter a nasty little mealy bug, you should just trust that it’s as unpleasant as it appears and squish it on sight. And yes, I—who tries to save everything—just said that. Not everything can be saved, so don’t waste time on little vessels of destruction. Mealy bugs will eat your grace & kill your plants. Spiders are your friends though—Charlotte will save your life, just ask Wilber.
Next, you will need to sow your seeds & provide a reasonable amount of light, water, & warmth. When you start seeing some roots, nourish the roots so it’s not harder for them than it needs to be. Strong roots will often be the only thing that can save a distressed plant.
Then, you must have the courage to allow the delicate strength of nature to do its damn thing. Trust that nature knows how to handle itself & remember that you are *never* in control of nature, not even for a fleeting moment. Nature always finds its balance, so care about it but let it be. You might even learn something from it if you are willing to reflect on how you work with it, or against it.
All of this is simple, but are you ready for the real secret?
The most accomplished & respected growers know that the true secret to being successful is to make sure you that you sow every single seed with love, authenticity, & intention. Share some joy with them as those little sprouts break through the dirt. Plants are more resilient than what people think as long as they have a healthy place to grow.
You might think I’m crazy, but I’m telling you, growers that give their plants love grow better plants. Growers who don’t, well…they don’t make as much of an impact, which is a shame because it’s so simple.
SO…go grow your own everything: vision, values, identity, way of life, hobbies, family, food, & plants (or at least buy from someone who does)…and if someone tries to plague your growth, f**k ‘em. I mean squish ‘em, and squish em on sight. Give no grace, they’ll eat it just like the mealy bugs will, and then they’ll try to eat you too.
Just make sure that whatever seeds you choose to sow this year are all sown with love, because after all… You will only reap what you sow.
