Yes, you can absolutely use DURABOND to fix basic Dents and Dings in trimwork. Bondo is a good product originally invented for auto body repair and has evolved into much more. Bondo does have its down sides for the user.
Wood Filler, doesn't sand well and is not easily shapeable with sand paper to shape damaged trim back to its original profile.
Dap, is not a bad product just has a shrinking issue while drying and is not as hard as Durabond.
Light weight spackling, good for filling holes but not for reshaping a dent in the edge of trim or reshaping trim profile.
