🪣 Bucket List 🪣
🌵 A Prickly pear cactus was on the top of my bucket list and it never fails, when you’re looking for it, you can’t find it!
🌵After looking nearly everywhere last summer, I stumbled upon the jackpot of prickly pear ON CLEARANCE!! right before the cold weather set it.
🌵 he’s been hanging on all winter but we are definitely ready for warmer weather and some sunshine to keep this baby growing!
-Opuntia (or like variety) aka Prickly Pear are flat stemmed, spiny cacti that can bear edible fruits if placed in the right conditions!
🥭 the edible fruit is often known as “tuna fruit”
🔥 they prefer a warm dry climate but if after the winter yours seems a little shriveled and gray, they tend to perk up quickly in the warmer spring months!
☀️happiest in full sun
💧well draining soil to prevent unhappy roots! These cacti are extremely drought tolerant and typically enjoy being watered 1-2 times a month
🌸 typically bloom mid- summer! About June- July
