HRRES HOW TO FIX A LOOSE STAIRCASE

Shim the Loose Spindle

Dry-fit a wooden shim to ensure it fits snugly into the gap between the top of your loose spindle and the handrail.

Spread wood glue lightly over the shim.

Insert the shim into the gap at the top of your loose spindle and gently tap it with a hammer to set it firmly into place. Wipe away any glue that seeps out of the gap.

Allow the wood glue to dry before cutting away the exposed portion of the shim. Leave it flush with the surface of the handrail.

Nail the Loose Spindle to the Handrail

Find a drill bit that is slightly smaller than the shank of your finishing nails.

Drill a pilot hole at an angle through the top of your spindle into the handrail of your staircase.

Hammer the finishing nail through the pilot hole in the top of your handrail to attach it firmly to the handrail.

Hold a nail set against the top of the finishing nail and hit it with the hammer. This will drive the finishing nail below the surface of the spindle.

Cover the nail hole with wood putty, using a putty knife to make it flush with the surface of the spindle to hide the nail from view.

Remember that cheap is expensive. Therefore, buy cheap but quality materials and products to ensure the integrity of your property.

Give Your Air Conditioner Some Space
Just like we need to breathe, your air conditioner needs space where it's getting air easily. Many AC units are surrounded by shrubs that can restrict the airflow it needs to run efficiently. Take a few minutes this weekend and do the following:

Trim up any bushes that are are touching the unit so there is at least 1 foot of clearance

Clean up the ground for any loose debris or leaves

If the outside of the unit has a lot of debris clogging it up, consider having a professional service and clean it out
